Amira El Sayed is an Austrian-Egyptian actress based in Berlin, Germany. She spent her early years living in Alexandria, Egypt and was brought up bilingual with both Arabic and German. She studied acting at the renowned Max Reinhardt-Seminar. She left University in the first year of studying to be able to work on a theatre play of Paul Schrader, where she was noticed by her agent. She wrote a book about the political developments in Egypt, titled "Klang der Freiheit" /"Sound of freedom". It was published in 2013 by the publishing house "Letter P" in Austria. She now lives in Berlin. Her first international film was "A Hologram for the King", starring Tom Hanks and directed by Tom Tykwer.
