R S Vikal

R.S. Vikal has an experience of more than 40 years in Theatre and 30 Years in Films, has got few feathers in his hat. He was facilitated by Shri.PC.Sethi, former home Minister, Govt. of India in 1980-1981 for his contribution to the Theater. Also recognized as Theatre Expert by Sangi Natak Academy and Sahitya Kala Parishad, Delhi. He was also an em-paneled Director of Doordarshan. His Hindi feature film "poster" as a director bagged awards for Best Film & Best Director at Women's Film Festival by the Indian Forum of progressive Film. His Hindi film "Kokh" as producer, writer & Director was Curtain Raiser in Penang International Film Festival, Malaysia in 1997 & its female lead artist was nominated for best Actress. His Hindi feature film "Dhadhak" as producer, writer & Director is under production & will be released shortly. Mr. Vikal has also made several Ad Films, Radio Jingles, Documentaries, Telefilms and TV Serials. In Mumbai Mr. R.S. Vikal also conducts a theater group named "Virat Kalodbhav". Virat Kalodbhav is a Mumbai- based cultural society floated by a dedicated group of artists whose prime aim is to promote various people-oriented arts viz., drama, painting, music, miming, pottery, and handicrafts and so on. The thrust will be on the folk-arts, particularly those that are closely related to life but go unnoticed and hence suffer neglect and even derision. The other members of society are people who have worked in different set-ups and in different social-economic environments of India. That way, the group purports to be a pool of talents, a true representative of the cultural variety and unity of the country.
