Jane Barr is a first-generation American whose family immigrated from Ghana. A screenwriter and director, she earned her MFA in Film & Television from the Savannah College of Art & Design. Jane's screenplay, 12 Days, was a second rounder at both Sundance 2017 and the Academy Nicholl Fellowship 2017. Her feature screenplay, Colony I, was a second rounder at Sundance 2018 and 2020. Jane was chosen as a fellow for the Hedgebrook Screenwriting Lab 2019 and the Athena Virtual Screenwriting Lab 2020. Her feature script, African Dogs Don't Choke was a finalist for the Shore Scripts Feature contest 2020, and her TV pilot, An American Tale was the Grand Prize Winner of the BlueCat Screenwriting Contest 2020. Jane was chosen as a Women in Film Pathmaker 2021 and she's developing a project with Lionsgate. Jane is repped by Management 360 & UTA.
