Declan has been the showrunner, producer and director on a number of television series. His television mini-series Deconstructing Dinner won the 2014 Best of Canada - Taste Award in Hollywood, beating out 'Top Chef Canada'. His documentary, Milk War, won the prestigious James Beard Award of Excellence for Best TV Special/Documentary in March 2011. As Senior Producer of Stornoway's bpm:tv, Declan has traveled extensively in Europe and North America, producing seven years worth of content for Canada's national television station bpm:tv. He has also produced programs for Stornoway's additional channels: The Pet Network and ichannel. Declan produced a six part documentary series Deconstructing Dinner, an original new ichannel series for television and the web investigating one of the most important issues in the everyday lives of Canadians: our food, and where it comes from. Declan's first documentary, The Path to Gimli, aired on RUV in Iceland in 2006 to popular acclaim. It tells the story of an Icelandic horseman who rode across Iceland and parts of Canada in search of descendants of his long lost relatives who immigrated to Canada in the late 1800's. The story was also featured on History Channel as part of the series, 'Ancestors in the Attic'. As a playwright, Declan graduated from Concordia University with an honours degree and a minor in film studies. He was awarded the 'Outstanding Student Award' in 2004 for his role in co-founding and co-organizing the university's annual Artmatters Festival. He served as president of the Fine Arts Student Alliance for three years and also won a seat in the senate of the University's student union. In 2011, Declan was awarded 'Employee of the Year' at Stornoway Communications.
