Tyler David Gilbert

Actor
Date of birth : 02/20/1987
City of birth : Mission Viejo, California, USA

Tyler grew up in Orange County, Calif. where, as a kid, he was in and out of hospitals constantly due to a rare heart condition he was diagnosed with at birth. Music was his escape, and his outlet from the frustration of frequent exposure to wave after wave of painful experimental procedures. However, despite his low heart function, he managed to live a fairly normal childhood. He began piano lessons at the age of seven, and his father taught him the guitar, although, it wasn't until high school that he realized his potential for composition as a career path. While taking an introductory music theory course, Tyler discovered his love for creating music, and stringing together chords and cadences like puzzle pieces fitting together to form an elaborate work of art. Gilbert earned his B.A. in Music Composition from the California Institute of the Arts (2012). While studying there, he composed the score to the original musical "RUINS" (2010) which had its debut on the CalArts stage in Valencia, Calif. and was met with rave reviews. After college, Gilbert went on to score a number of web series such as "Zombie Apocalypse 101," "Tales of the Sword," and "Cannibal Clown Killer." He has also written music for many live theater productions at UCLA including, "Life of Galileo," "Offending the Audience," "Assume the Worst," and "Mauser," the latter of which during the show's California debut. In addition, Gilbert has scored independent feature films such as "OMG...We're In A Horror Movie." It's been said of him that he brings a high level of creativity and professionalism to every project that he works on. Gilbert has been a loyal supporter and contributor of the Make-A-Wish Foundation for many years, and has been invited to perform his compositions at several of their hosted charity events. Gilbert continues to compose and collaborate with independent artists on projects involving film, animation, and live theater.
