James Cairns was born in Glasgow, Scotland on September the 16th 1975, to Helen Cairns (machinist) and James Cairns (construction worker) He left school at the age of 15, Filmmaking was not his first profession, he was a machinist, retailer, chef, construction worker, hotel porter and in media relations. His biggest passion and that had always kept him going growing up in the east end of Glasgow, was movies, James used it as a way of escaping his hectic life. He always thought "wouldn't it be amazing" to have his name in credits like some of his heroes the biggest influence being Steven Spielberg, as a child growing up in Glasgow watching his movies allowed a lot of thought, feelings and certainly behaviors to come over him. It wasn't until his job in media relations where James got a taste in front and behind the camera, that this quickly changed his direction in life, he started his own company Draven Productions and in between helping his Mum look after his Dad following a stroke he set about starting his new career. James garnered great success in such a short time in Glasgow winning awards for his work and a short time at the BBC News department which helped him with his transition when he moved to Orange County California in 2013, which after a 14 year career, covering all aspects of a production that James took the next "Step Up" the ladder and, he also enrolled in Film Studies and has formed a collaborative partnership with J.D. Macias of Illusion Studios.
