Shalimar is a creator dedicated to using Art as a tool for social justice and Human Rights. Born in Sierra Leone, West Africa, Shalimar moved to the US at the age of ten, escaping the devastation of the "Blood Diamonds" civil war. Through her love of the Arts she found a voice to express her experience as a survivor and her hope for a more just world. Talented in the creation of inspired art as well as its management, Shalimar has created and directed a variety of multi-media projects. After receiving a Bachelor of Science from St. John's University in TV and Film Production, with a minor in Media Management and Finance she focused her talents behind and in front of the screen. During this time, Shalimar worked with numerous production organizations including the United Nations International Labour Organization, the ABC Network and Val Dean Entertainment. She continued to hone her talents as an actress by attending the William Esper Studio, a prestigious acting conservatory in New York City; as well as making her NYC theater appearance with a starring role as Delia in the play "Miss Francis". She is a member of the The New American Theatre Company, in Los Angeles and has co-starred in the online series In Dice We Trust. She is currently (2016) striving to make an impact as the Creator, Executive Producer and star, of a series called America Free. Shalimar continues to bring her love of Art full-circle as an apprentice to internationally renowned Artist Anthony James. By exploring her long-held passion for drawing, painting and sculptures she has found yet another medium to build her talents as well as share her story, desires and purpose. Currently (2016) residing in Los Angeles, she dedicates her free time to Human Rights campaigns such as End Ebola Now and volunteering with Inner City Arts.
