Born in 1951 on the Hopi reservation of Arizona, Victor Masayevsa Jr.is an award winning native American filmmaker and photographer.He studied at the Horace Mann school in New York City, Princeton University in New Jersey (English) and the University of Arizona in Tucson (graduate work in English and Photography.) Living in the village of Hotevilla, Arizona, he has directed students in the use of Hopi language and culture as well as how to make their videos and in his own art has combined photography with animation and other experimental aspects.
