Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Terrell D. Perkins began his artistic career as a cartoonist, but soon honed his skills as a photographer and filmmaker. In his youth, Terrell's grandmother felt he obtained the gift of artistry, regardless of physical limitations. Mr. Perkins was born with a deformity of both hands called syndactyly, which produces skin and bones to form as a unit. Not allowing his "disability" to cease his love of illustration, his mother acknowledged this gift (as his grandmother previously had done) and provided Terrell with a pad and pencil at the age of three. This provision transformed his life in ways he could have never imagined. As time progressed, pad and pencil generated positive experiences for the young Mr. Perkins, such as exhibitions at the renowned Brooklyn Museum, various Manhattan gallery displays, as well as many one-man gallery productions at 207 Art Gallery (In New York City). Soon after, Terrell had the desire to attempt an excursion into the world of cinema, after having continuously studied film credits. This studying would contribute to the jump start of his film career. In 2005, Mr. Perkins organized his first film, a documentary titled "Deeberry Remember Me", which chronicles periodic moments of his childhood, trials overcoming bullying, in addition to documenting his artistic livelihood. Subsequently, in the formation of putting together "thriller style" short films, a film director took notice of Mr. Perkins' work. This director was in search of an illustrator for his first feature film. In 2007, Terrell D. Perkins was hired as a storyboard illustrator for a thriller titled "You're Nobody To Somebody Kills You", which was directed by Michael "Boogie" Pinckney and executive produced by Spike Lee (School Daze; Do The Right Thing; Malcolm X; Inside Man; Da 5 Bloods). The director (Pinckney) was instrumental in the role of being Terrell's mentor, and the two work closely together to this day. Currently, Mr. Perkins also has garnered relationships with numerous film producers and directors, who contact him to do storyboard illustrations for various projects. In addition to storyboard illustrating, he designs special effects and make-up for projects. Terrell D. Perkins' assistant director debut transpired, when he was offered to work on a film titled "The Stuff", written by comedian Rob Stapleton and Joseph C. Grant (also commences role as director). "The Stuff" was introduced at the Newark Film Festival in 2018 (and released in the summer of 2019). Conceptualised by his son Isaiah (whom is also the pivotal character), Perkins directed "Until It Hits Home", which concept examines bullying, child suicide and gun violence. The fifteen minute short film has received positive acclimation, and has been considered for film festivals. In 2020, Mr. Perkins recently completed a short film with singer/songwriter Fedora McClaren (in her directorial/acting debut) titled "Fooled By April". Online, Terrell D. Perkins can be found on YouTube (Pad and Pencil Productions) for an array of independent short films (as director/actor). He also displays his talent of acting in the series Vish Merrick and Tamika And Tammie, in addition to the short film "The Needs" (all featured on Amazon Prime). Furthermore, he has been featured as an extra on the series Godfather Of Harlem (Season One, Episode 3), titled "Our Day Will Come". Godfather Of Harlem features actors Forrest Whitaker (Bumpy Johnson), Nigel Thatch (Malcolm X), Giancarlo Esposito (Congressman Adam Clayton Powell, Jr.), and Vincent D'Onofrio (Vincent 'Chin' Gigante).
