Cathy Ellis is a native of Miami, Florida. A graduate of the University of Miami School of Music both with a Bachelor's of Studio Jazz Music (Vocal) and a Masters of Music (Education). A member of the prestigious Dramatist's Guild, she wrote her first musical while still in High School and produced her first stage musical "Round & Round" while in college. A member of NARAS, Ms. Ellis has had a number of hit songs on the Contemporary Christian Charts including the song "Child". A number of artists have recorded her songs and she herself has seven (7) CD's on Apple ITunes and other sites including "Child", "Apple of God's Eye", "In My Mother's Eyes" and "The Diamond". "Abraham & Sarah" was first inspired to Ms. Ellis in 1980 with the first stage productions beginning on June 3, 1986 at Gusman Performing Arts Concert Hall in Miami (Florida) wherein Ms. Ellis directed, produced and portrayed the role of "Sarah" opposite legendary comedian/singer Dick Sterling, who portrayed "Abraham". Also in the original cast were Pop Star Jon Secada, Singing Sensation Johnny Rodgers, Broadway Producer Fred M. Caruso and Music Phenom Rick Krive. Ms. Ellis is also a prolific authoress. Her book series "The Complete Guide for the Guitar" has been on the State Adopted Textbook Lists in a number of States for the past twenty-four years and used in Music Classrooms all over the U.S.A., Puerto Rico and Canada. Her inspired book, "My Life With Mom", which she co-wrote with her Mother, Esther, is now in preproduction as a sitcom. Ms Ellis's first music video as songwriter, director and producer was "In My Father's House" (2001, EFM Productions)and her first Film musical as Writer, Songwriter, director and producer was "Fernando & Me" (2007, EFM Productions). Ms Ellis also co-produced several albums for other artists including "Brand New World!" for Contemporary Christian Artist Nancy Haywood, "In My Father's House" for Contemporary Christian Artist Kyle Bielfield, and "Melody" for Contemporary Gospel Artist Melody.
