Lamar Richardson was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University in the City of New York in 2015. Lamar starred as 'Sylvester' in Phylicia Rashad's production of August Wilson's "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles in 2016. The production won 'Best Ensemble' and received the 'McCulloh Award for Revival' at the 2017 L.A. Drama Critics Circle Awards, in addition to being awarded 'Best Acting Ensemble of a Play' at the 2018 L.A. Stage Alliance Ovation Awards. Most recently, Lamar appeared in Jordan Peele produced 'Weird City' on YouTube Premium, 'Straight Up' on Netflix, and the season 2 finale of NBC's 'New Amsterdam.'
