David Meyers grew up in South Holland, Illinois and spent a lot of time hanging out and going to school with his fellow Cheevies Films crew members, Derek and Kevin Braasch and Mark Sartain. David, known as "Fin" to his close friends, found an early interest in films, acting, reading, and writing. He enjoyed going to the movies often with his friends, as well as watching movies at Derek and Kevin's house. He would also escape into books at home, not putting them down without being told to. David's first attempt at acting was a Christmas play at his elementary school, portraying Mr. Smith, an unemployment office worker, in "Santa Claus Meets the Robots". He had other small roles in other elementary school Christmas programs as well. After his parents purchased their first video camera, the die was cast, and a future in film was certainly bound to happen. Along with his brothers, several homemade videos of vacations and birthday parties were made. Among his earliest attempts behind the camera, David would film parties that his oldest brother would DJ. His first attempt in film was done during his sophomore year of high school. An assignment for English class, David wrote and shot a short film about the poet, Carl Sandburg, where David played the titular role of the poet himself. Every year subsequent throughout high school, David made another short film for English class. Junior year brought the short, "Witchcraft" about the Salem Witch Trials, and senior year brought a group film remake of the Shakespearean play, "King Lear", co-written by David and another of his classmates. This project mingled live-action actors in conjunction with puppetry, and it involved David's first attempt at editing in music to the project. In college, David's first attempt at writing a large screenplay, titled "Jack Of All Trades", was never completed. He moved on to begin writing another screenplay, "The Icing On The Cake", and it seemed to flow slightly more easy than the former screenplay. With a decent amount of this screenplay complete and on the way to a concert in nearby Wisconsin, he discussed the possibility of filming it with one of his best friend's, Derek Braasch, whom by this time, had an excellent background and education in film. The rest is history. David and Derek agreed on the script, and David finished the remainder of the script that summer. Auditions and casting happened that December, and the filming of what became "The Icing" began the next year. David served as screenwriter, actor (prison guard), script supervisor, and casting coordinator for the film. After the long film production and editing process were complete, "The Icing" was released on April 12th, 2014 in a theatre premiere and on DVD. David continues to work on writing, this time with novels. He has completed his first novel, "The Contractor", and he is also working on writing the first of two sequels to that book, titled "The Sheriff".
