I, Mabel Kong, am no stranger when it comes to the world of performing in front of people. I grew up as a classical pianist, starting at the age of 5, playing in numerous piano recitals and winning awards in competitions. I was even a ballet dancer, and an alto singer in gospel choir. Even though I've always loved film and television shows and their ability to impact people, I didn't experience the acting side until I started taking acting classes at Del Mar Media Arts after college. While studying under Bud and Bunny Barth, it confirmed my love of being in touch with characters and to bring their words on paper to life for audience members. Since then, I've had the honor of working with the highly respected Wong Fu Productions on their first feature film, "Everything Before Us," which stars the stellar cast of Aaron Yoo and Brittany Ishibashi. I was also cast in a supporting role for PaperSketch Media's short film which won 2nd place in the 626 Night Market film competition. I collaborated on a few projects with Fred Copeland's Cineplex Studios, such as, "Journey," which can be viewed on Vimeo On Demand and Amazon Prime. Serving in leadership roles and participating in my Toastmasters Club has enhanced my public speaking skills, which has been useful when being a red carpet host at film festivals to interview award nominees. I was also a spokesperson in the Q&A time for a friend's film at the Holly Shorts Film Festival, and in 2020 I had the pleasure of hosting a couple panels for the virtual LMGI Awards Show during quarantine, talking to location managers nominated for contemporary and period films. When I am not in front of the camera, I enjoy giving back to the community through serving at my church, Free Chapel, in Orange County, CA. I have helped with the live-production camera operator, which ministers to thousands of people from all over the world to watch service online. From 2017-till early 2020, I visited a county jail on a monthly basis with a small team of women to lead a church service of singing, delivering a message, and prayer time. I currently co-lead the Connection Lounge team to welcome first time visitors with warm smiles and assist them with their questions. My interpersonal skills and empathetic and pleasant nature make me a valuable team player when collaborating with others. I am a constant learner as I continue forward in the entertainment industry. I hope to work with you one day in the future! Thank you.
