Marcus A. Clarke is a Brooklyn-born Director & Producer, who in 2019 directed three episodes for the Netflix reboot of the popular true-crime series "Unsolved Mysteries: Volume 1" (eps 1,4 & 5) produced by 21Laps. Upon its release in 2020 "Unsolved Mysteries Volume 1" would capture the #1 spot on the Netflix top ten list globally, for nine consecutive days. He also directed three of eight installments in the Netflix Original Hip Hop docuseries "Rapture", produced by Mass Appeal a 2018 SXSW selection & Apple's feature-length documentary "The WIZRD", which follows the meteoric rise of Atlanta's rap superstar Future. Clarke has 20 years+ of experience working in commercial production, television and film. In his early years he worked as a film runner for Spike Lee's Forty Acres and a Mule Filmworks, was a production manager at table-top commercial co. Santiago Inc., and got an early start as a commercial first assistant director. His producer credits include CNN Films & Mass Appeal's feature-length documentary on Hip-Hop fashion "Fresh Dressed" (Sundance Selection, 2015) and "Nas Live From the Kennedy Center: Classical Hip-Hop" (2018), which was the first hip hop documentary released as part of PBS's critically-acclaimed "Great Performances" series. In 2020 Clarke Directed and an Executive Produced "Blood Brothers: Malcolm X & Muhammad Ali", working alongside Producer Kenya Barris in collaboration with award winning production company Lightbox, as the first documentary film out of Barris' previous Netflix overall deal. "Blood Brothers: Malcolm X & Muhammad Ali" is a feature length documentary which tells the extraordinary and untold story of the friendship between Malcolm X & Muhammad Ali, and was released in Q3 2021 on Netflix. Clarke's most recent work includes Director & Co-EP for an episode of Hulu's Original Series: "Rap Caviar" slated to release in March of 2023. His episode follows the rise of Hip-Hop phenomenon and L.A. native Roddy Ricch.
