Michael Lasoff

Michael Lasoff was born in Chicago, 1948, from Russian, Polish, French and Greek lineage. At 23, he moved from America to Holland where he now lives and works. After following a successful career in modern art, he switched careers in 2011 to become a full-time filmmaker. Beginning with several short films, by 2013 he jumped into the deep with a first feature length film "Snowman Never Sleeps". This premiered to a big cheering crowd in Amsterdam which has become his favorite city for launching new films. He continues to produce new features at the rate of about one per year. Working on a very low-budget and largely financed by the sale of his paintings, Lasoff has not had to depend on the restrictions of producers. He prides himself on his freedom and a unique way of storytelling. All the films have been written, directed and edited by himself. Much of his work is also supported by his own musical compositions. The films are for the most part a mixture of fantasy, humor , drama and experiment.
