Liew Ceng Teng

Liew Ceng Teng is a Malaysian, Norwegian composer, sound engineer, musician, and vocalist in Oslo. Best known for song is Winter Song, Liew is also a highly proficient harmony skills, piano, bass, and drum/percussion. Liew has mastered a wide array of musical genres evidenced by the many different styles incorporated in both his studio and live performances including pop, rock, blues, jazz, fusion, soul, folk, New Age, classical, and country and western. Liew was born in Malaysia, Perak, Taiping. The eldest son of the 3 children in the working class family who lived in a 1-room house as known as his father's workshop. Liew always loves music, according to his mother stated since Liew was a baby, he did not need a special guard when he had put in a cradle unless the music is playing. Liew started to learn to play guitar because he was influenced by his father. That created a very unique environment for his childhood's life because his father listened to 60/70's western music, but in the same time his mother listened to the chinese and taiwanese pop songs. Liew had a troubled to communicate to his father since he was in his teenage and according to Liew, they did not talk to each other since Liew was 15 years old, and still today, they did not talk much to each other. "it does not mean we are in a bad relationship, we just not used to talk to each other", said Liew. 2009 spring, Liew came out as homosexual, and the family did not accept and tried to brain wash him, told him what is right to do and what is not, and Liew accepted to be change, but he himself known, that is not possible, "How can you change a man who like women and suddenly change him to like a man ?" said Liew. That is why he moved to Norway, Oslo after he told his family, and now he is married to Hans Petter Harboe, they known each other before Liew told his family, "It was Hans Petter Harboe given me the strength to tell them" said Liew. Today, Liew is running his own studio in Bjørvika in Oslo, and he is still composing, writing, playing, recording, mixing music.
