Kawooya MalcolmX Oswald also known as "Mal-X" (born 27th December 1994) is a Ugandan rapper, song writer, spoken word artist, actor, filmmaker and humanitarian. He first gained recognition in music after releasing his debut mixtape "Finding Myself: The Demo-nstration", and in film after starring as the lead role in The Ghetto Film Project's short film "Silent Depression" (2015). In his so far brief involvement in the Ugandan music and film industry, he has managed to work alongside some of the best artists, actors and filmmakers in the country, thus garnering support and commendation as one of the most promising rising stars in the country's entertainment industry. He has so far featured in 4 short films, one feature film, one T.V series and 6 stage plays. He also has one mixtape and over 40 songs to his name under his rap moniker "Mal-X". Kawooya Malcolm started off his acting career on stage in 2008 in his High School's (Taibah International School) annual theatre productions at the Uganda National Theatre for 6 years in a row (2008-2013), a feat only achieved by him and very few others from his school, nationally celebrated for its stage plays. Some of the lead characters he starred as include the roles of Simba in "Mfalme Simba" (2009) (An adaptation of Walt Disney's "The Lion King"), Edward in "The Baby Is Mine" (2010) (An adaptation of Willy Russell's "Blood Brothers"), Brutus in "To Become a Star" (2011) (An adaptation of William Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar"), Sebastian in "Love Galore" (2012) (An adaptation of William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night") and Romeo in "Greatest Love of All" (2013) (An adaptation of William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet"). His performances on stage brought him to the attention of several critics, theatre enthusiasts and filmmakers alike. Upon completion of his A 'Level, he went on to develop a career in film. He first appeared infront of the camera in 2014 in Ken Kihire's feature film "New Intentions" (T.B.A) as Blake and later made a cameo appearance in NTV's hit T.V series "The Hostel" (Season 4) (Ep. 26) (2015) as Josh. Having met the celebrated rising filmmaker George Stanley Nsamba in 2014, he became a member of the Ghetto Film Project and featured in their critically acclaimed short films; "Crafts: The Value of Life" (2015) and as the lead role in "Silent Depression" (2015) and "The Dummy Team" (2015), all written and directed by George Stanley Nsamba (Founder of the Ghetto Film Project).
