Don Eichin

Don "Gums" Eichin, A surfer from Long Island NY was 1 of a handful of pioneering surfers in 1950's & 60's that set out to make a life in Hawaii while surfing legendary waves like the Bonzai Pipeline, Wiamea & Sunset with some of the greatest named legends of the time. Don was an aspiring film maker witnessing the greatest moments in surfing history unfold while capturing it on 8mm Bolex film camera. He later came home to became an FDNY Firefighter and brought back to NY with him a story that helped generations of young surfers grow with the sport of surfing. His story is no less then that of legend. His passion for surfing, his 8mm camera & his amazing stories have passed through the generations, many so influenced by him that they too became surfers and Firefighters.
