Laughton was born in Morant Bay, Saint Thomas in eastern Jamaica and moved to England when he was 18 years old. At age 25 he started a company in furniture design and manufacture that he has grown over 40 years. In addition to knowing his way around tools, he was busy doing voice over work for BBC Radio WM in Birmingham, spent time developing his craft as a professional singer while simultaneously dabbling in writing fiction. After he and his wife moved to Florida in 2006, he published his first book, "The Mulberry Bush" in 2008, his second novel, "The Night Hawker" in 2013, and the third "Margaret"...released in August 2014. As he was finishing his fourth book, in September, 2014 (My Father's Woman), he was diagnosed with stage two Prostate cancer. He decided to put that book on hold and began a new project to document his journey with cancer. This project explores his experiences with diagnosis, treatment, side effects, and the exceptional help he received from the Florida Hospital, Waterman, in spite of having no medical Insurance. This latest book will be titled..."Prostate Cancer Picked On The Wrong Guy" and is scheduled to be released in December 2015. He is presently beating the hell out of prostate cancer because it has no idea what it was taking on when it crawled into his space.
