Woni Spotts was born in Los Angeles to Roger and Betty Spotts in 1964. She attended school on the east coast of the United States, where she has family in the Mid-Atlantic area and New York. Beginning in high school, Woni traveled extensively as part of a making of a documentary. After the documentary ended, Woni developed an e-Commerce company which helped fund her solo travel. Despite being an accomplished musician, songwriter, pianist, and animator, Woni decided not to follow in her family's entertainment footsteps and instead she decided to explore the world. Woni has publicly stated her claim to be the first black woman to have visited every continent and country in the world, from 1979 to September 2018. She also traveled to locations of interest such as Antarctica, Easter Islands, the Galapagos Islands, the polar regions and more. Her travels are set to be revealed in a book planned for release in 2020.
