Shelton Woolright was born in New Zealand on 4 April 1979. As a youth, Woolright would enjoy his spare time by drumming and later joined the rock band Blindspott in 1997. The band disbanded in 2008 and he became a founder of a new rock band called I Am Giant. Blindspott later reformed without Woolright. In 2015, Woolright became a new judge/mentor on the New Zealand TV3 reality singing talent competition The X Factor New Zealand, mentoring the Groups category, replacing the sacked Willy Moon who was axed alongside his wife Natalia Kills during the first live show of series 2 for bullying a contestant on air.
