Maru Morón Iglesias is a Venezuelan director, writer and teacher. She has a Degree in Social Communication at the Universidad Central de Venezuela and a master degree in Filmmaking and Television Direction from Ramón Llull University in Barcelona, España. She has directed TV advertisement for brands such as L'Oreal, Banco Azteca, TAM airlines, Labello, AZ Mundo TV channel, Cines Unidos in Venezuela and Mexico as well worked as writer and director in election campaigns both in Venezuela and Colombia. Twice award winner from the documentary short competition Caracas Filminuto Festival for pieces on the political situation in Venezuela. Victory Awards winner 2015 Emerging Leader, she made the short fiction film The Tomb, which portrayed for the first time the cruelty that political prisoners suffer in Venezuela. The short film, to date, has won different awards and recognition such as: Winner at The Right Cut Film Festival, 2016, Boston, USA. Official Selection New York City Independent Film Festival. 2016, NYC, USA. Nominee at the Victory Awards as Innovation in Political Comunication. 2016, Washington, USA 3rd place Best Short at the British Film Festival TMFF in December 2015. Since 2014 Maru lives in Mexico city and works as professor at the Universidad Iberoamericana and the Universidad de la Comunicación, while directing and writing commercials, documentaries and political campaigns.
