Marianne Chase is an actress and filmmaker. She writes, directs, produces and stars in her own comedy sketches and short films, as well as working collaboratively with others. She began her career as an actress, appearing in the uncredited role of Rionach O'Neal, a Gryffindor Chaser, in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. She continued to work on the rest of the Harry Potter series, most memorably as one half of the 'Kissing Couple' in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. She went on to land roles in Rough Haired Pointer's stage production of The Young Visiters and experimental short, TopShop Returns. She received a classical training in Acting and Directing at GFCA London under the renowned acting tutelage of Christopher Fettes, Sue Dunderdale and Giles Foreman. It was following a painful experience, where she was ghosted by a date, that she was moved to begin writing her own, original material. Her first self-penned short film was A Modern Ghost Story, which she made on zero-budget and released via YouTube and social platforms to great success. From here, she went on to write and perform a one-woman show, 'Av a Butcher's, a cabaret show starring Pat Butcher's ghost, which she took to Edinburgh Festival's Voodoo Rooms and Glastonbury. Her successes include a leading role in indie comedy, Cult (available on Amazon Prime), for which she won Southampton International Film Festival's Best Supporting Actress Award 2019. In 2020 she appeared in YouTube comedy drama series, Crying Out Loud, playing five different character roles and released the satirical short - Hexes for Exes, which was featured by Polyester Zine. Her short film Beta-Male: Tale of the Dark L, a creepy short about being hit on after hours, is currently (2021) being entered into film festivals.
