Mariana Arriaga Armendáriz (Born March 15, 1991) Is a Mexican director and producer. Her first work, a short film named "On self defense" was nominated to the Venice Horizon Award and to the International Film Festival of Morelia. Mariana Arriaga was born in the middle of the new era of the Mexican cinema. Her father, Guillermo Arriaga (21 grams, Babel, The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, Burning Plain, among others) is a well renowned screenwriter, author, director and producer. That gave Mariana the motivation to give her entire life to what she loves the most; telling stories. Since she graduated college, Mariana has studied curses all around the globe on photography and movie making, and has been assisting her father in many projects. She's now is planning on directing another film, produced by Santiago Arriaga, her brother, which will be starring the new star of Venezuelan cinema, Luis Alejandro Silva (Winner of the Golden Lion on Venice, 2015)
