Jordan Matayoshi

Jordan Matayoshi was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii and is the youngest in her family of four. She spent most of her childhood competing in various sports; tennis, swimming, track, and Tae Kwon Do. At the age of 12, Jordan traveled to Orlando, Florida to compete in the Junior Olympics in Tae Kwon Do. It was an exhilarating experience for her. She then took a step back from Tae Kwon Do to pursue other sports before stumbling into acting. Jordan found a love for acting and storytelling during an 8th grade acting class where they put together a puppet show for kids. Their laughter and engagement hooked Jordan. She knew she wanted to perform and bring stories to life. Hungry for more training Jordan auditioned and was accepted to Walnut Hill's Summer Theatre Intensive in Boston. For six weeks Jordan engaged in acting, singing and dance classes while rehearsing for a dramatic play and two musicals. Jordan was also fortunate enough to spend another summer at UCLA's acting for the camera class with John Pasquin. She continued performing in school productions and, with the encouragement of one of her teachers, assisted with the Hawaii Shakespeare Festival. Jordan was able to experience behind the scenes work such as: costumes, lights, sound, and stage management. After graduating high school Jordan attended Emerson College in Boston where she earned a BA in Theatre Performance. Her college experiences included performing with two dance troops (Emerson Dance Company and Emerson Urban Dance Theatre), dabbling in scene painting, dialect intensive training (Russian, New York, Irish, Scottish and British) and stage combat. One of the highlights was an acting for the camera class under Ken Cheeseman. Jordan was able to take her studies overseas to the Netherlands where she studied acting and traveled around Europe. Her last semester in college was spent at Emerson's Los Angeles campus. There, she balanced an internship at Sheila Jaffe Casting and put on a showcase with guidance from Kay Cole. Now settled in LA, Jordan spends her time taking Japanese lessons, beginner free running, sword/tactical classes and admiring her championship Fantasy Football belt.
