Growing up in the San Jose, California, Jarmin Runes trained martial arts under Master Ernie Reyes Sr. since the age of 4. Joining the Ernie Reyes World Action Demo Team at the age of 8, he performed around the United States from the MAIA SuperShow, to NFL 49er halftime shows. Jarmin Runes competed locally, winning multiple grand championships individually and later moved on to competing nationally in the NASKA circuits. After receiving his 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do under Master Ernie Reyes Sr., he eventually moved on to instructing martial arts and gymnastics professionally. At the age of 19, Jarmin moved from the Bay Area to Los Angeles and began to train film fighting with stunt coordinator, Arnold Chon. A year later Jarmin had the opportunity to stunt double for Ernie Reyes Jr. in a TNT show "The Librarians."
