Etienne Aurelius was born and raised on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, and first picked up a camera at the age of 10 and since then has established himself as an award winning filmmaker who is internationally recognized as a multi-hyphenated artist for his abilities as a director, cinematographer, editor, colorist, writer and producer. In 2017, Etienne won two American Advertising Awards for Best Commercial and Best Commercial Series for his work with Kualoa Ranch and also won the prestigious 2017 WSL Ride Of The Year award for his cinematography of Billy Kemper's 60ft wave at infamous Maui surf spot, JAWS, with Surfline Magazine naming Etienne as the number one filmmaker out of Hawaii. In 2018, Etienne's directorial abilities caught the attention of Jason Momoa who made Etienne the director of content for On The Roam, a production company whose videos have been showcased all over the world, with Etienne garnering over 80 million views on Youtube collectively for his videos. With On The Roam, Etienne has created 80 commercials, short films, documentaries and spotlight narrative profiles with his award winning documentary, We Are Mauna Kea, featured on CNN and Jason Momoa's Oscar Spotlight featured in Vogue Magazine. In 2019, Etienne worked with Netflix to direct a documentary for their original series, Frontier, starring Jason Momoa and soon after was hired by Apple Tv+ to shadow director, Francis Lawrence, on SEE, creating their official behind the scenes videos. From there, Etienne worked with Legendary Pictures, where he worked alongside director, Denis Villeneuve for the upcoming remake of Dune. There he worked alongside Oscar Isaac, Timothee Chalamet, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin creating a documentary for Jason Momoa during the duration of filming. Most recently, Etienne directed a six-part campaign for Harley Davidson Motorcycles and earlier this year spoke on a Sundance panel spotlighting On The Roam's Youtube content alongside Jason Momoa, Will Smith and Madelaine Petsch and most recently directed a six-part campaign for Harley Davidson Motorcycles. Etienne is a sponsored advocate for RED Digital Cinema, Leica Camera, Kodak Film, Leitz Cine Lenses and Tiffen Filters.
