Aron Gunnarsson is a professional football player and the captain of the Iceland national team. He was born in Akureyri, Iceland's second city and nearly became a professional handball player, like his brother. However he was convinced to become a footballer instead and earned a move to Holland. After a rocky start to his career, making only one appearance, Aron moved to England and quickly became a key member in Coventry City's central midfield. From there he moved to Cardiff City, where he was pivotal in the club's promotion to the Premier League in 2018. He also led the Iceland team to its first ever World Cup in 2018, after their successful Euro 2016, and most importantly Aron leads the legendary 'Viking Clap' with the national team's fans.
