Lesane was born Kayla Janae Lesane on November 13, 2002 in Decatur, Georgia to Jacqueline and Kendrick Lesane. Her mother is a trainer/manager and her father a production manager. Kayla, the youngest of five girls, began her career at the age of seven at the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Performing Arts in Stone Mountain, Georgia where she continues to dance, sing and act. An avid dancer, she hones her craft in dance tap and ballet lessons while being home schooled by her mother and maintaining a 3.0 GPA. In addition to her normal studies and learning clarinet, Kayla has also been professionally trained in theatre, film and stage presentation, script writing, singing, and acting. In June 2011, she was cast in the stage production, On the Shoulders of Giants, and again in June 2012 in Rose that Grew from Concrete. Both were tributes to fallen icons such as Lady Day and Louis Armstrong. Her breakthrough came in October 2015 when she was cast for the role of Lattrice in Writer/Director, Greg Carter's motion picture, My B.F.F. which began filming in November 2015 on location in Louisiana.
