Alexandra Maïo

Alexandra Maïo is an assistant director in France. She was born near Paris in 1990 to a Franco-Spanish mother and a Franco-Portuguese father. She studied at the Sorbonne where she graduated with two degrees: History of Art-Archeology and History of Cinema. She then got her Master in Cinema Theories and Archives at INHA in Paris, during which she wrote two theses on dance in the cinema. At the end of her studies, she experimented with several different job positions, all based around culture and art. She went from television production to audiovisual journalism, to documentary archives, and then worked in an independent cinema/theater. After this eclectic career start, Alexandra joined Abdellatif Kechiche and Hafsia Herzi in 2017 where she worked as first assistant director in both their latest films (to be presented at Cannes 2019).
