Jaroslav Soukup was born on 12 July 1982 in Jicin, Czech Republic. He is a professional biathlete, a member of the Czech National biathlon team. Soukup's biathlon career began in 1999 and he made his International debut in 2004. So far he is without a individual victory in a race. However his first World Cup podium came in the 12.5 km pursuit in Östersund, Sweden on 4 December 2011. Soukup won a bronze medal in the 20 km Individual event at the 2012 World Championships in Ruhpolding, Germany. The following year, 2013 he won another bronze medal in the mixed relay event in Nove Mesto, Czech Rpublic. His biggest success was winning 2 medals in the Sochi Olympics in 2014. In the 10 km sprint, Soukup nailed 3rd place, a bronze medal and shared the podium with the winner Ole Einar Bjørndalen and the silver medalist, Dominik Landertinger. During the mixed relay event he won a silver medal alongside teammates Ondrej Moravec, Gabriela Soukalova and Veronika Vitkova. Jaroslav Soukup is married. He and his wife, Renata have one daughter, Adela.
