Zoë Kathleen Sher was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Rachel Sher (née Whyte), a massage therapist, and Derrick Howard Sher, a business owner and entrepreneur. She has Lithuanian, Jewish, Irish, and Scottish ancestry. Zoë graduated Valedictorian of her high school class and went on to study at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. During her second year at conservatory, she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. She returned to Honolulu to receive chemotherapy treatment. As of January 2018, she is cancer free. In 2020, she was chosen to play in the ensemble of the 24 Hour Plays: Nationals program. She continues to work with 24 Hour Plays on their various projects. In 2022, she played Maggie, the volunteer worker, in Magnum PI. Zoë resides in Los Angeles with her partner.
