Born on 13 March 1988 in Braunau am Inn, Austria, Dominik Landertinger is a professional biathlete. Landertinger's career began by competing at the Junior/Youth World Championships from 2004 in Haute Maurienne until 2008 in Ruhpolding. During those 4 years, he won 4 medals - one gold, 2 silver and one bronze. Landertinger's official World Cup debut was on 13 December 2007. He made his first victory in the 15 km mass start on 21 February 2009 during the World Championships in Pyeongchang. He also won a silver medal in the relay. That 2008-2009 season Landertinger came 3rd in the pursuit in Ruhpolding. At the end was 11th in the overall, taking his first discipline title for the mass start. The 2009-2010 has been signed with a 3rd place in the pursuit in Antholz-Anterselva. But all his focus was for the Olympic Games, the first in his career in February 2010 in Vancouver. Dominik Landertinger won his first Olympic medal, a silver in the relay. In the other events he finished 23rd in the Individual, 34th in the sprint, 14th in the pursuit and in his specialty, the mass start - 7th. After the Games, Landertinger concluded the season with a victory in the mass start in Khanty-Mansiysk. The season was over for him at number 6 in the overall. In 2010-2011 Landertinger made 3rd place in the Individual in Ruhpolding. At the 2011 World Championships, he didn't win anything. Placed 16th in the Individual, 49th in the sprint, 46th in the pursuit, 9th in the relay and 7th in the mixed relay. After that a drop in his sports form occurred. During the World Championships in 2012, 2013 and 2015, Landertinger didn't win anything. His best performance was 5th in the pursuit and 6th in the mass start in Nove Mesto in 2013. On a World Cup level, Landertinger made 2nd place in the mass start in Holmenkollen in 2013-2014, 2nd in the sprint in Pokljuka in 2014-2015 and three times 4th in the mass start in Canmore in 2015-2016, the sprint in Khanty-Mansiysk afterwards and in the pursuit in Pokljuka in 2014-2015. At the 2016 World Championships in Holmenkollen, Landertinger broke the routine without winning any medals from the last three World Championships. He won the silver in the Individual and shared the podium with his teammate and compatriot, the bronze medalist Simon Eder. In the other disciplines, Landertinger came 9th in the sprint, 14th in the pursuit, 15th in the mass start and 4th in the relay. The season ended for him at number 9 in the overall.
