Born on 18 March 1987 in Wolfenbüttel, West Germany, Arnd Peiffer is a professional biathlete who made his World Cup debut on 8 January 2009. Quite rapidly he won two bronze medals in the relay and mixed relay at the 2009 World Championships in Pyeongchang. Peiffer showed great potential and talent. From the 2010 and 2011 World Championships both held in Khanty-Mansiysk, he won three medals - 2 gold in the sprint in 2011 and mixed relay in 2010 and one silver in the mixed relay once more in 2011. At his first Olympic Games in Vancouver in 2010, Peiffer didn't won any medals. He finished 37th in both the sprint and pursuit events, 17th in the mass start and 5th in the relay. That season 2009-2010, Peiffer achieved his second World Cup victory just before the Games. On 23 January 2010 he won the 10 km sprint in Antholz-Anterselva. The season concluded for him at number 9th in the overall and at 3rd place in the mass start overall. During the 2010-2011 season aside from the fabulous success at the World Championships in Khanty-Mansiysk, Peiffer made two World Cup victories. He won the sprint events in Presque Isle and in Khanty-Mansiysk. The finish was over at the prestigious number 4 in the overall with 735 points and a 3rd place in the sprint overall. From the 2012 World Championships in Ruhpolding, Peiffer won two bronze medals in the relay and mixed relay. On a World Cup level he managed two victories. On 7 January 2012 won the sprint in Oberhof and later on 4 February 2012 won his first ever pursuit in Holmenkollen. Once again the season 2011-2012 concluded for him at number 4 in the overall and 3rd position in the pursuit overall. At the 2013 World Championships in Nove Mesto, Peiffer won one medal, a bronze in the relay. In the other disciplines placed 28th in the Individual, 16th in the sprint, 21st in the pursuit and 23rd in the mass start. The 2013-2014 was an Olympic season. At the Games in February 2014 in Sochi, Arnd Peiffer won his first silver Olympic medal with the relay team alongside Erik Lesser, Daniel Böhm and Simon Schempp. In the other events, Peiffer came 34th in the sprint, 19th in the pursuit and 18th in the mass start. That season he didn't win anything on a World Cup level but was quite steady and managed a 7th place in the overall and a 2nd position in the sprint discipline overall. During the 2014-2015 season, Peiffer achieved a victory in the sprint in Holmenkollen. At the 2015 World Championships in Kontiolahti, he won a gold medal in the relay. Also placed 22nd in the Individual, 30th in the sprint, 14th in the pursuit and 22nd in the mass start. The season ended for him at number 13th in the overall. At the 2016 World Championships in Holmenkollen, Peiffer won two silver medals in the relay and mixed relay. He finished 7th in his favorite discipline - the 10 km sprint, 13th in the pursuit and 5th in the mass start. That 2015-2016 season, Peiffer was so close twice to the victory but eventually finished 2nd in the sprint and pursuit in Östersund. Also one 3rd position in the sprint in Khanty-Mansiysk to finish the biathlon schedule. He was 11th in the overall. Arnd Peiffer has numerous medals and victories. His talent is indisputable, so the future would hold many more wins and podiums for the German biathlete.
