Paula Maxwell was born in San Diego. She started out in the entertainment field as a magician's assistant in her father's magic shop, Land of Magic, in Ventura, California. Taking time off to raise a family, her heart still called her to the stage, and at 36 she enrolled in a theater course at college and began acting in local theater productions. She then joined an improvisational troupe know as Ventura Theater Sports. As a part of Theater Sports, she represented the troupe at Keith Johnstone's acclaimed academy in Calvary, Canada. Paula started her own troupe, P. Maxwell Productions, which is now known as Southern California's premiere murder mystery troupe. For more than twenty years they have been performing long-form interactive and improvisational murder mystery dinner theater for the Fillmore & Western Railway. They have been seen at the Roosevelt Hotel and the Magic Castle in Hollywood, The Third Street Mall in Santa Monica, and many other prestigious venues in cities throughout the state of California. Her company is still going strong, with professional troupe members from Santa Barbara to Los Angeles, who also love participating in this unique format, ala Commedia dell'arte. Paula is ever active in film, theater, and improvisation.
