Born in Istanbul, Turkey, Asli Pelit has been an international journalist for the past 15 years. After attending school in Istanbul, she obtained her BA from New York University in Journalism and Latin American Studies. She then moved to Cuba and received her MA at the University of Havana's Latin American Studies Department. Following her dream of being a reporter, she moved to Uruguay, where she started her journalism career as an editor for Real World Radio. Following the release of her first book published in her country, she was asked to work as a correspondent, first for CNN Turk, and then for CNBC-e and NTV, all based in Buenos Aires. Asli Pelit moved to Brazil in 2013 while producing and hosting a weekly documentary series, which allowed her to combine two of her greatest interests, travel and soccer, into a show called 10'larin Kitasi (Continent of 10s) for TRT Sport. It was a major success, and she was chosen as the first female sports reporter from Turkey to cover a World Cup, the 2014 edition in Brazil. Her TV presence is not limited to Turkish television: she was interviewed for Last Week's Tonight with John Oliver and also was a regular guest host on Argentina's best morning show, Doman. In 2015, she worked in Havana as a producer for VICE on HBO. The episode was aired on March 25th, 2016, called "Palestine Now; Viva Cuba Libre. As a foreign correspondent, worked in Cuba, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Nigeria, China, and throughout the U.S. Fluent in Spanish,Portuguese and French.
