Boris Zunic

Boris Zunic was born on Sunday, September 17th, 1995, in London, United Kingdom. His mother, Milena Mehak-Zunic, is from Slovenia, and is a Science Technician in the UK, however holds the Diploma of a Master of Science in Engineering having obtained her Masters Degree in the field of Biotechnical Sciences. His father, Pavao Zunic, who is from Croatia, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, and was a shift engineer before becoming a Site Manager in the UK. Boris was the middle of three children having an older Croatian born sister, Tamara Zunic, and a younger brother, Bojan Zunic. Boris was interested in acting from a young age having started out in school plays, playing roles such as Mr. Bumble in Oliver Twist, King Oberon in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Knuckles in Bugsy Malone and a few minor roles in other plays. He loved being in front of a camera, always making skits or entertaining audiences to get them to laugh and smile. After a year in Secondary School he auditioned for a weekend acting school named John Robert Powers, which didn't end well as they became known for selling dreams to a lot of children. Boris' family forked over a lot of money for a 10 lesson schedule that promised exposure to acting agencies and auditions for local commercials, in hopes that they can support his son's dreams in becoming a successful actor. Nevertheless, after having unprofessional lessons that were more a waste of time than productive, Boris started to lose interest in the Acting school as it was demotivating and tedious. Once completed, his family never heard back from the company, which encouraged his mother into being persistent in requesting for a certificate of completion, as she believed they deserved at least this if not more. After a year of calls, emails and determination the family received a certificate and nothing else. They wanted to take further actions however they did not have the financial stability to push the matter further. Boris was upset and humiliated at the fact that his naivety got the best of him, and this deterred his search for more acting jobs. From an early age Boris showed talent in the creative arts including music, dance, acting and more. His academic work was great however he knew he wanted to do something in this field when he was older. Having fantastic music skills Boris started to learn the guitar in the early 2000s and then moved onto the drums in Secondary School, where he also started to teach himself the keyboard/piano so that he could progress his music production skills. Boris was balancing schoolwork, sports including Basketball, Swimming, Karate and more which he played at higher competition levels, national levels etc and his music and acting. Although acting wasn't going so well, he still looked for any local auditions that he could go to, however always feared that it could be another JRP (John Robert Powers) situation. In 2011/12 Boris started his Music Producer channel under the name of BIZI Beats, releasing instrumentals in the Hip Hop genre's and it's respected sub genres as well as experimental tracks in other styles. He wanted to use his love for music and creativity to connect people with sounds, and also thought that through being a music producer he could then push for acting with a wider range of skills. He attended a Music College in London where he developed his sound making abilities, and this helped his music take off in the 'underground/conscious' scene as international artists (rappers, singers etc) began approaching him to collaborate. With no luck on the acting side of things, Boris continued to push his music whilst constantly looking out for any auditions. Having signed up on Star Now and numerous other acting job sites he started to get more and more emails with links to possible roles. Years would go by with many unsuccessful auditions yet Boris' determination was never discouraged as he always kept himself busy with the music, saying 'I make music and then I go for an audition, then its straight back to the music. Of course I am anxious and excited for the potential role, however if i am unsuccessful, I have my music to keep me busy and uplifted until i am accepted.' Having instrumentals reach in the tens of thousands of views on Youtube and constant fan support on Soundcloud, Boris was very happy with how his music was going. In 2016 his dream started to come true when he was accepted to act in a low budget (£200), feature film named Isolated, directed by Fuwad Abrar. His character is heard on the other end of a few telephone conversations, and although his role as David was not on screen, he was passionate and determined to give it his all, to prove that he was chosen for the right reasons. After recording his voice with the correct direction he was praised for his performance and due to his musical abilities was asked to edit his and other recordings by adding the 'telephone effect'. Boris was very excited with his work as the film was to be submitted into Film Festivals after having 3 accomplished screenings with positive reviews. A IMDB page was also made for Boris as this was to be credited to his name. Unfortunately, Isolated (2016) was not accepted into any Film Festivals but was honored by critics for being at such a great standard for Fuwad's directorial debut, and that any improvements could be done in future projects. It was never for the fame or money, instead Boris always wanted to make people laugh, feel, go through emotions whether through his music or acting and entertainment. Now he has a few links to some short films, where he can evolve his acting skills and get more show reel footage for future auditions. His hunger for acting hasn't decreased and his love for the creative arts is still as pure and strong as it was when he began. Keeping his mind fresh with his music and his mentality strong due to the awful experience at JRP, he is motivated to go out there and get better at his craft in order to fulfill his potential.
