Morris Bleckman was a news photographer for WBBM (CBS) in Chicago during the late 1950's and 60's. During the riot at the 1968 Democratic National Conventions, a protester threw a brick at him, shattering the lens cover of his camera. This was a favorite story of his to tell, and for years often carried the remains of the filter with him. Being rather well known in Chicago, he was invited to tell this story during the press photographer party scene in Medium Cool.
