Richard Bowne was a native of Bronxville, New York. He began an interest in theatre while stationed at the Newport Naval Station. While training at the Hartford Conservatory and at the University of Conneticut, he performed in community and regional theatres including the Weathervane Theatre in Whitefield, NH, and Theatre-by-the-Sea in Matunuck, RI, in roles ranging from "Touenbach" in THREE SISTERS to "Sky Masterson" on GUYS AND DOLLS. Following a tour as "Orlando" in "AS YOU LIKE IT" and "Florizel" in A WINTER'S TALE" with the National Shakespeare Company, he began Equity theatre at the Goodspeed Opera House in SHE LOVES ME. Mr Bowne also originated the role of "Gately" in James McClure's PVT WARS, for the 1979 New Play Festival in Louisville KY.
