Roz Braverman was born in New York City sometime around 1915. She lived in New York City her entire life. She often said that her mother kept on adjusting her age so that she would remain at a "cute little girl age" for her acting career. She herself was never sure of the exact year. She died possibly in 1989. She was extremely focused and a natural born actress and comedienne. She started in Yiddish theater when she was just about able to talk and walk. She met Martin Braverman when she was 15 years old and they married soon after. When Martin presented her, a short, heavyset, outspoken 15 year old, to his mother, his mother said, "Marry her if you want, but remember she's never going to be thin". They remained married and devoted to one another nearly 60 years, till her death. She longed to be a mother but suffered many miscarriages. In her last attempt of having a baby, she carried a set of twins till the 7th month, both of which were stillborn. Roz and Martin had several Samoyeds dogs to which they were very attached. She appeared briefly in many films and had speaking roles in Frankenweenie and Tootsie. Roz and Martin had maintained a long friendship with Jack and Madeline (Lee)Gilford. She auditioned and worked till the near end. Her demise in health came quickly and took her life in a matter of a few weeks.
