Paul Broucek serves as President, Music, Warner Bros. Pictures. In this post, Broucek has both creative and operational oversight of the Studio's theatrical music department. On the creative side, Broucek manages the team responsible for pairing the right music, musicians and composers with film projects from WBP and New Line Cinema. On the operations side, he's charged with overseeing the department's administrative, production and day-to-day business functions as well as the development and deployment of music-related initiatives to meet the needs of Warner Bros. Pictures Group's producers and directors. He also has oversight of WaterTower Music, the record label which releases WBP's feature film soundtracks. Among the recent films on which Broucek has overseen the music are "Wonder Woman" and "Wonder Woman 1984," "Joker," "A Star Is Born," "Crazy Rich Asians," "Oceans 8," "The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part," "Dunkirk," the "Fantastic Beasts" films, "Inception," "The Hobbit" trilogy, "Argo," "Gravity," "Interstellar," "The Dark Knight Rises" and "The Great Gatsby." Throughout his career, Broucek has worked with some of the world's top composers and musicians on a wide variety of projects. Prior to joining WBP in 2009, Broucek founded Common Market Media, a music consulting, production and publishing company specializing in productions for film, television, records, commercials, games and new media. Broucek previously headed the creative music team at NLC for 12 years, having served as President, Music from 2004-2008 when New Line joined WBP. During his tenure, he served as the Executive Music Producer (along with Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh) for "The Lord of the Rings" film trilogy, which won three Academy Awards in music categories. Other NLC titles on which he oversaw music include the "Austin Powers" films, the "Rush Hour" film series, "Wedding Crashers," "Hairspray," "Sex and the City," "Elf," "American History X," "Wag the Dog," "Blow," "The Notebook," "A History of Violence" and "The Golden Compass." With a career spanning more than four decades, Broucek has also worked in music supervision, recording, engineering and management. Among the storied companies and individuals he's worked with are Fairlight Instruments of Australia, music supervisor Evyen Klean, The Record Plant in Los Angeles, Paramount Studios' famed Stage M and The Plant Studios in Sausalito, California. Broucek began his film music career as an assistant engineer to Academy Award-winning sound designer and picture editor Walter Murch on the landmark film "Apocalypse Now."
