James Bryan

Cinematic jack of all trades James Bryan has had an extremely varied and colorful career in the wild world of low-budget maverick underground independent cinema. Bryan hails from Lufkin, Texas. He was originally a pre-med student at Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas. James decided to switch majors while attending Vanderbilt University in Tennessee and subsequently transferred to the UCLA Film School in 1965. Bryan made his film debut with the animated UCLA student short project "Inner Limits." He graduated from UCLA in the late 60s. His first two theatrical features were the soft-core entries "Escape to Passion" and "The Dirtiest Game" in 1970. James' other movies are the downbeat "adults only" melodrama "I Love You, I Love You Not," the funky comedy "Boogievision," the amusingly cruddy biker romp "Hell Riders," the hilariously horrendous urban vigilante opus "The Executioner, Part II," and the spectacularly shoddy action oddity "Lady Streetfighter." Bryan achieved his greatest enduring cult cinema notoriety with the deliciously dreadful backwoods body count slasher schlockfest "Don't Go in the Woods." Moreover, James has worked on other people's motion pictures as an editor, a production manager, a post-production supervisor, a director of photography (he filmed various pick-up shots for the outstanding vampire horror gem "Lemora: A Child's Tale of the Supernatural"), and a production assistant. In addition, James Bryan has handled various sound chores on a slew of mainstream and independent films alike.
