Originally from Western Australia and of English and Danish heritage, the multi talented Janine moved to her mother's homeland New Zealand after graduating from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts to tour with the Limbs Dance Company. Her next step was to study acting at New Zealand's leading Drama School Toi Whakaari. After her graduation Janine was nominated for the Chapman Tripp Best New Comer Actress of the year for her performance of May in Sam Shepard's Fool For Love. Since then she has had the opportunity to play many notable roles on stage and screen. Most recently roles include Great Southern Television's Hillary as Ed's mum Gertrude, Mrs Moft in Screentime's Ablaze about the true story of the horrific 1947 Ballantyne department store fire, Val in Brokenwood Mysteries S3. Janine has also appeared in international productions including Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, Legend of the Seeker and during New Zealand's Covid19 Lockdown played Anna Hutchison's mom in Hallmark's A Love Yarn. While living in Sydney in 2004 Janine made the multi-award winning short film Gabriel with artist Cherie Knott. After a break to raise her two children Janine has returned to her love of making films and theatre and has projects in development. In 2023 Janine will be playing the Allegra in the indie web series Allegra Box Splits which will give her the cherished opportunity to return to film in Sydney Australia after 15 years of family and work life based in Auckland, New Zealand. Always up for a challenge, she is learning Pole Dance Sport to be able to play the title character, who is a fifty year old pole dancing teacher. We hope to see Allegra Box Splits completed mid 2023. Janine has a huge passion for young people and is the founder of the successful New Zealand based performing arts business Shine School of Confidence.
