Paul Cajero was born on July 5, 1942 in Morenci, Arizona, and was the oldest son of Nick and Josephine Cajero. Paul grew up in Tucson, Arizona, and graduated from Tucson High in 1960. He received a BA in Theatre Arts from the University of Arizona in 1965 and did postgraduate studies at University of California, Los Angeles. He greatly enjoyed a 50-year career in television. In 1965, he began his career as one of the first tour guides on the Universal Studios Hollywood Studio Tour, and soon moved up into production where he joined the team that ran the television production office at Universal and was responsible for scheduling and coordinating the soundstages for the studio's many TV productions. He then decided he wanted to work on the set where the action was, and at the ripe old age of 30 he joined the Directors Guild Assistant Directors Training Program. Later, he served on the program's Board. Over the course of his career, he worked as an assistant director, unit production manager, producer, director, and writer on over 30 television series, including Magnum, P.I., Simon & Simon, Quantum Leap, Baywatch, Sliders, Kingpin, Arrested Development, Weeds, Dirty Sexy Money, Lincoln Heights, and Justified. He was a great fan of live theater, crime and mystery novels, the Blues, L.A. Lakers basketball, Arizona Wildcats football, beating his friends at poker and chess, a good joke, and, of course, his mom Joby's famous enchiladas.
