Nicholas von Sternberg has been involved in the motion picture industry since infancy. He was first introduced to the set when only a year old on his father's production of 'The Saga of Anahatan', produced in Kyoto, Japan in 1953. His father was the renowned film director Josef von Sternberg. His mother, Meri, was a lecturer in Art History at U.S.C. and Long Beach State. He graduated from the U.C.L.A. film department in 1973, minored in classics and has a backround in Math and Physics. While at U.C.L.A. he became friends and apprentice to Hal Mohr, A.S.C. In Graduate School at U.C.L.A., he was hired to be Production Manager of the cult hit 'Dolemite', taking on the additional responsibility of Director of Photography before production began. Among other abilities are a gift with foreign languages, including working in French, Russian and Spanish. He is a private pilot has also taught Martial Arts briefly, is enthusiastic about cross country and downhill skiing, backpacking, trout fishing and sailing. He also writes poetry and continues to study art. He lives on a small ranch in Llano, California near the former home of Aldous Huxley.
