Brian Young is a writer/director, earning four Emmy nominations and numerous awards for his work. With a diverse background in photography, fine art, history, and theatre production, Brian began his filmmaking journey at a young age, creating films since the age of fifteen. In 1999, he made his debut as a narrative feature film director with "Counting Days". Among Brian's notable projects is the epic and award-winning "Chapel Hill" an American Civil War film that featured a large cast, thrilling stunts, and captivating battle scenes. His short film "In the Garden Growing" received critical acclaim and was honored with multiple awards, including the prestigious "Best of Festival" recognition. One of Brian's significant achievements is the Emmy-nominated documentary "The Mountain Runners," which showcases renowned actors such as William B. Davis (known for his role as the "Smoking Man" in X-Files) and Kevin Tighe (notable for appearances in Lost and What's Eating Gilbert Grape). This remarkable film has gained attention in national publications and received numerous awards at international film festivals, from Innsbruck, Austria to Eugene, Oregon. "The Mountain Runners" has screened on three continents and in theaters across the United States, making its television debut in May 2013. Brian's expertise extends beyond his own projects as he has taught "Advanced Feature Film Production Techniques" at the Northwest Film School and is a sought-after speaker at schools and universities. He had the honor of serving as the Master of Ceremonies and moderator at the prestigious "Native Experience in Film Festival." Additionally, he has been commended for his community outreach film work with organizations such as the Suicide Prevention Helpline and Hospice.
