“The best thing about me, bar none, is that if an alcoholic or drug addict comes up to me and says, 'Will you help me?' I can say yes and follow up and do it. When I die, I don't want 'Friends' to be the first thing that's mentioned. I want that to be the first thing that's mentioned. And I'm gonna live the rest of my life proving that.” Matthew Perry embarked on his acting journey as a child artist. His initial roles in shows like "240-Robert" paved the way for a promising career in Hollywood. Despite early successes, Perry faced setbacks, including the cancellation of projects like "LAX 2194," which eventually led him to audition for the role of Chandler Bing in "Friends." Perry's portrayal of Chandler showcased his impeccable comedic timing and endearing personality, contributing to the show's immense popularity. Beyond "Friends," Perry showcased his acting prowess in various projects, including films like "Fools Rush In" and "The Whole Nine Yards." His talent was further recognized with Emmy nominations for his roles in "The West Wing" and "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip." However, alongside his professional achievements, Perry battled personal demons, struggling with addiction throughout his life. While undergoing multiple rehab stints and health scares, including a near-fatal gastrointestinal perforation, Perry continued to fight his addiction. But, tragically, Perry's life was cut short in 2023. He was found unresponsive in his Los Angeles home. His untimely passing left a void in the entertainment industry and among his fans worldwide. Nevertheless, his legacy lives on through his memorable performances and the foundation established in his honor to support individuals battling addiction.
