“When people ask me if I went to film school, I tell them, No, I went to the movies”. Quentin Tarantino is an American director, producer and screenwriter, among the most influential of his generation, known for his innovative approach and unconventional storytelling. From an early age, he developed a passion for film, dropped out of school to devote himself full-time to taking acting classes at James Best Theater Company and eventually discovered that he admired directors more than actors. He worked at a video rental store where he immersed himself in a vast diversity of films and genres. He spent several years writing and trying to get some of his scripts off the ground, until he made his directorial debut with Reservoir Dogs (1992), a film that established him as a new voice in cinema. Two years later he made Pulp Fiction (1994), which brought him international recognition. Tarantino combines elements of different genres while paying homage to films that have influenced him. With a distinctive style that includes non-linear storytelling, intense dialogue and pop culture references, he has built memorable and iconic film characters, often using explicit violence, an aspect that has generated both praise and criticism. His most notable works include Kill Bill (2003-2004), Inglourious Basterds (2009), Django Unchained (2012) and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019), he has received numerous awards, including two Oscars, two Golden Globes, two BAFTA awards and the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. His impact on the industry is undeniable and continues to inspire new generations of filmmakers.
