Bill Murray

Director | Actor | Writer
Date of birth : 09/21/1950
City of birth : Illinois, USA

"Movie acting suits me because I only need to be good for ninety seconds at a time". Bill Murray is one of Hollywood's most eccentric figures, with a career marked by constant reinvention, moving seamlessly from slaptick comedy to intense drama. Interested in philosophy and mysticism, the eclectic Murray often avoids the Hollywood scene, making him elusive unless he chooses to be found. As a comedian, he initially joined the National Lampoon Radio Hour, and later on Saturday Night Live in 1975. Murray's career skyrocketed thereafter, starring in such comedy classics as "Meatballs" (1979), "Caddyshack" (1980) and "Ghostbusters" (1984) and in critically acclaimed films such as "Lost in Translation" (2003) which earned him a Golden Globe and BAFTA Award. He has collaborated with independent film stars such as Sofia Coppola, Jim Jarmusch and Wes Anderson, like in "Coffee and Cigarettes", "Rushmoore" or "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou", but is equally at home in movies such as "Charlie's Angels" and "Garfield." Although he has appeared in iconic films such as "Groundhog Day," Murray's most memorable role is always himself, as in "Space Jam" and "Zombieland." Known for his spontaneity, Murray enjoys surprising strangers with unexpected appearances and pranks, leaving them with his signature line, "No one will ever believe you." Funny, unpredictable and very hard to find unless he wants to be, Bill Murray is unique without equal.
