“Wanting to be a good actor is not good enough. You must want to be a great actor. You just have to have that”. Gary Oldman is a British actor, director, screenwriter and producer, known for his versatility, his exceptional acting ability and his capacity to tackle almost any genre. Remembered for roles such as Sirius Black in the Harry Potter films or James Gordon in the Batman: The Dark Knight trilogy, Oldman began his career on stage, studied acting at Rose Bruford College, worked at the Royal Court Theatre and was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. At the same time he began acting in television and independent films. In 1986 he got his first leading role in film, he played Sid Vicious in Sid and Nancy, a biopic about the Sex Pistols bassist and it was with this role that he gained international recognition. He moved to the United States and made his first Hollywood productions, among them, hits such as: The Fifth Element (1990), or Leon, the Professional (1994). In 1997, he wrote and directed Nil by mouth. He participated in very prominent roles, such as Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), directed by Francis Ford Coppola, or Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour (2017), for which he received the Oscar Award for Best Actor. He has received numerous awards and nominations throughout his career, including BAFTA Awards, Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards. His work secured him a prominent place, making him one of the most respected actors in the industry.
